Quote from brannett on Jul 10th, 2008, 11:53am: have just purchased a scribe ec (cd 9002) http://www.mfdigital.com/downloads/ScribeEC_Data.pdf from ebay...can this be converted from a cd duplicator to somehow rip my cd collection to flac? can i use a version of riptastic or can it be done using sdk?... sorry for ignorance, many thanks in advance bren Is bren short for brent or brendan or something else? Three answers: 1. IIRC, Chuck, Riptastic!'s author and a generally cool guy, wrote a driver for MF-Digital's Baxter (and similar datatronics-based 25-disc robots), which is available from MF-Digital. I don't believe he wrote any Riptastic! drivers for any of the larger/multi-drive loaders. [Chuck: if you did, I apologize for mentioning competing software below, feel free to remove the entries if appropriate.] 2. For their larger robots, MF-Digital now bundles the Ripfactory Ripstation software suite if you order it under the Ripstation model numbers (7601, 7601x, 7602, 7604, ...) though it might be available as an add-on package for other configurations (perhaps even the 9002). The 9002 and 7602 robotic hardware are not equivalent (the 7602/7604 units have a left and right drive stack position while the 9002 only has a right side position) but the 9002 should still work with one of the Ripfactory drivers. The 7602 comes pre-loaded with an XP environment running Ripstation! and associated utilities and the front labeling is customized to show it is a Ripstation. 3. Or...you could do what I'm doing, which is using Illustrate's dbpoweramp new batch ripper program (part of dbpoweramp) and the ULCLI-based (Universal Loader CLI) drivers. Instructions for obtaining them can be found in the dbpoweramp.com forums, beta subforum on the batch ripper sticky thread. I've done a lot of testing with these drivers...having written them myself. -brendan

I would like to get some advice from you regarding Riptastic! I'm new to this so excuse my ignorance. I saw that I can buy Riptastic! from here... http://shop.cd-writer.com/catalog/riptastic_mp3_cd_ripper-p-7377.html I would like to build a PC with a couple of CD/DVD drives to simultaneuosly rip and tag CD's to the local hard drive. Is this possible with Riptastic? Which fully automated hardware/software setup would you recommend to do the above? Thanks!! et

My problem is that I have batch ripped a ton of CDs and I have some that came back as: Artist #2EACA91836697DFD - Disc #2EACA91836697DFD - 01 - Track 01.mp3 etc. Is there a application that is free, quick, and easy that can identify these Artist/Album/Tracks and re-tag them for me. Everything is done in ID3v2 tags.

Just a quick comment on this... If your files have ID3v2 tags, Riptastic stores the disc's table of contents and the track index in the tag. This should make it easy for any other software to re-tag the files. Chuck
