Diagnostic Options

Enables you to configure and use various diagnostic features. To get here, select Options from the Tools Menu and go to the Diagnostics tab.

Note: Diagnostic options may affect program performance. It is recommended that these options be used for temporary diagnostic purposes only.

Enable SCSI Logging

Enabling this option will cause Riptastic! to log all low-level SCSI interaction with your hardware. Because there can be a lot of SCSI communication, especially during ripping, the log file can grow large quite quickly. Also, the process of writing to the log file will slow down Riptastic!, especially during ripping. Note, the term "SCSI" here refers to the transport protocol and not the hardware interface, and hence this option applies even if you don't have a SCSI card installed in your computer.

Use the Log file location field to specify where the log file should be written. You can also use the ellipsis button ("...") to the right to browse for a place to save the log file.

Read step-by-step instructions on How to Create a Diagnostic Log.

Device Attributes Cache

When Riptastic! first encounters a CD-ROM drive, it may take some time to examine the drive for features and compatability. Riptastic! will cache the results of this examination process so that it won't need to be repeated in the future, thus speeding up ripping. This cache is small and does not require much space, so normally you won't need to worry about clearing the cache. However, in certain situations, Technical Support may ask that you click this button to clear the cache for troubleshooting purposes.
