  • Added: Option to enforce minimum CD reading speed.
  • Added: Temporarily caches CD info downloaded from the Internet for better performance.
  • Added: Added special case for refused Internet connection errors to warn about possibility of firewall blockage.
  • Added: Improved Internet socket errors to contain error message text.
  • Fixed: Track names would not be downloaded for new CDs inserted during Batch Ripping when the “Eject after ripping” option was enabled.

  • Fixed: ILLEGAL REQUEST 0x64 error on boundaries between audio and data track.
  • Fixed: Problem that prevented ripping (consistent NO SENSE error) on some hardware.
  • Fixed: File names with prohibited characters were not always converted properly.
  • Fixed: Adjusted Track 0 threshold up one to 33 frames (New Order / Technique).

  • Added: Option to disable buffering when writing to the SCSI log; useful for diagnosing issues that cause the system to freeze.
  • Fixed: Some non-errors would be incorrectly interpreted as errors, depending on the driver.
  • Fixed: Device recognition failed on some hardware / driver combinations.
  • Fixed: Problem that could cause a fatal error of "no device is selected" when a media event is received and no device is selected.

  • Fixed: Two issues could cause the Drive Selector to report “No media” and prevent ripping despite the Track List's displaying valid audio tracks: (1) Windows reports media changes for some drives before they are fully spun up and able to read the TOC; and, (2) some drives report a “NOT READY TO READY CHANGE” unit attention error for the first TOC read command after a media change.
  • Fixed: Recording date macro (“%r”) in the Files Options didn't work
  • Fixed: Empty CD info / track names could cause “malformed path” errors.
  • Fixed: Now handles extraneous whitespace in the Registration Dialog, which should help eliminate registration problems.
  • Fixed: On the Files Options page, macro insertion drop-down menu now sets the cursor and focus for the relevant edit field.
  • Fixed: During batch ripping, the first track ripped from a CD may not have the correct path and/or file name.
  • Fixed: Short (32 frames or less) “phantom” Track 0s are not displayed.
  • Fixed: Riptastic! now launches to the same temporary folder every time, to work around issues with some security software.
  • Changed: Increased ripping limit to 300 minutes for the evaluation version.
  • Changed: Generated track name format now uses “%i”, “%2i”, “%02i” to be consistent with file name format (previously used “%d”, “%2d”, “%02d”).
  • Changed: Improved “not a relative path” and “malformed path” error messages to include the offending path in the error message (which was not so informative without).

Riptastic! version 1.4 (released October 24, 2003)
  • Added: Batch rip feature (see Batch Ripping).
  • Added: Rip range feature (see Capture Range Dialog).
  • Added: Rip CD as single file feature (see Rip Disc as a Single File).
  • Added: Online User's Manual item to Help Menu.
  • Added: Now you can use the F2 key to rename tracks in the Track List.
  • Added: Helper warning messages to replace disabling of ripping toolbar buttons and menu options. This should make it easier for users to understand why tracks and discs can't be ripped in some circumstances.
  • Added: Previous error to support report (see also Submit Report Dialog).
  • Fixed: Encoding MP3 files at a bitrate of less than 32kbps failed.
  • Fixed: Encoding MP3 files as mono resulted in silent files.
  • Fixed: Riptastic! did not negotiate format with encoder before opening config dialog. This caused some minor bugs in the MP3 Encoder.
  • Fixed: Many commands didn't have status bar helper text.
  • Updated: Updated MP3 Encoder to Lame version 3.93.1.
  • Changed: Rip Disc no longer automatically includes Track 0.

  • Added: Now supports even more CD-ROM drives and hardware!
  • Added: Allow limit of 50 files to be ripped for evaluation.
  • Added: Auto-balancing to avoid buffer overflow when writing is slow compared to ripping.
  • Added: Capture Dialog now displays total and remaining size of buffer.
  • Added: 'CPU Speed' field to support report (see also Submit Report Dialog).

  • Removed siren sound watermark from trial version.

  • Fixed: If HA/SCSI inquiry ID strings contained zeros, and were later inserted into another string, the other string would then contain zeros in the middle, causing it to be prematurely terminated.
  • Fixed: If a SCSI error occurred on the first sector of a read, causing the read buffer to be of size zero, the processing progress bar divided by zero.
  • Fixed: Various modal dialog boxes did not properly disable the window underneath.
  • Changed: Resized property pages to standard size of 252x218 DLUs.
Riptastic! version 1.1 (released September 19, 2003)
  • Added: One-time dialog box to warn users about siren sound watermark on output.
  • Fixed: If a drive returns invalid MSF in TOC (some DVD drives do this when a DVD is inserted), the application will not start.
  • Fixed: On Windows 95/98/ME, some or all drives may not be recognized.
